No. The elder person is not checking the kid’s temperature. It is a traditional greeting called Mano Po.
In Mano Po, the hand is taken and touched to the younger person’s forehead. This is the traditional Filipino acknowledgement of respect for elders. One time when I took Aunt Lita’s hand and did Mano Po, she about fell over - she wasn’t expecting me to do it.
If you are a visitor, it is not expected that you will do the Mano Po with elders - but if you are comfortable and know the elders, I bet they will be surprised but happy to see you do it.
